Current Officers and Other Staff

Chief John Nicholson (#701) - John has 20 years of law enforcement experience with the Springfield Police Department. He has been the Chief since December 7th, 2002. Prior to that he was Sergeant since 1996. Chief Nicholson serves as our training officer in numerous areas. He is the president of the Brown County TRIAD board, serves on the Brown County Victims Service Board, and is also part of the Salvation Army Board. John is also a member of the Springfield Ambulance Service and is a Reserve for the Brown County Sheriff's Office.

Sergeant Katie Mueller (#702) - Sgt. Mueller has 8 years of law enforcement experience with the Springfield Police Department. Sgt. Mueller began as a part time Officer in 2002 and was moved to full time as the School Resource Officer in January 2003. She is now Patrol Sergeant. Sgt. Mueller is the D.A.R.E. Instructor and Taser Instructor, an E.M.T., and is also on the Child Protection Team, the Public Schools Crisis Team, and serves on the Springfield Community Education Board. Sgt. Mueller was promoted to the position of Sergeant in November 2006.

Officer Joseph Micka (#703) - Officer Micka started working for our department part time in May, 2005. In December, 2005 Officer Micka was hired as a full time Officer.

Officer Justin Robertson (#704) - Officer Robertson began working as a full-time officer for the Springfield Police Department in January 2007.

Officer Chris Schafer (#705) - Officer Schafer began working for our department in August 2009 as a part-time officer. In January 2010 Officer Schafer was hired as a full-time officer.

Officer Louis Norell - Officer Norell is a part-time officer for our department. He began working for us in September 2010.

Officer Eric Schwarzrock - Officer Schwarzrock has worked for our department since October 2004. He works part-time for us and is a full-time Deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Office.

Other Employees

Darla Bisel- Darla has worked as a part time secretary for the Springfield Police Department since May 1999. She does transcription and general duties.

Abby Larson- Abby does transcription work for the Springfield Police Department.

Kristi Ploeger- Kristi does transcription work for the Springfield Police Department.

Sue Ladd- Sue has been the Animal Control Officer for the City of Springfield since January 2000.
