Our History

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce was first known as the Springfield Booster Club, Inc., and was founded in 1932. Its initial goals were to promote and strengthen commercial activities within the area, as well as to organize and contribute to several events that were meant to instill a sense of community pride. Fourteen years later, in 1946, the organization became known as the Springfield Civic and Commerce Association. This remained as the organization's official identity until 1974, when the SCCA became known as the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. The word "Area" was later added to the organization's name, in effort to encourage and reflect the participation of several businesses from outside the City of Springfield's city limits.
